A Victory for Women on the Road to Health Care Reform!

The Senate HELP Committee adopted an amendment to its health care reform bill on Thursday that would guarantee insurance coverage for basic gynecological care. The amendment, which was spearheaded by Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), requires all insurers to provide for the “preventive care and screenings” that women need to stay healthy without charging them extra fees for these services. PRCH helped develop the amendment and advocated for its passage, along with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and other members of the women’s health community. Thank you to the PRCH members who called their senators on the committee to support the amendment — your voice was heard!
