Call Your U.S. Representative: Pregnant Women Need Fair Treatment on the Job
Ask your member of the House of Representatives today to cosponsor the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act! Some U.S. employers expect pregnant workers to ignore medical advice and engage in tasks like lifting heavy items and climbing ladders. If the women refuse, they can lose their jobs.
The Pregnant Workers Fairness Act would require employers to make appropriate accommodations for pregnancy. Call your representative today so that pregnant women can stay healthy without endangering their jobs.
Directions
1. Call 202-224-3121.
2. Tell the operator who answers the phone the name of your representative. (Not sure? Look it up here.)
3. Once you are connected to the office of your representative, tell the staff person who answers your name and your city and state. Say something like:
"I am calling to ask you to cosponsor the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. It's time to close the pregnancy loophole and ensure that pregnant women are treated fairly on the job. Thank you."
4. Hang up. Ask your friends and coworkers to make the call, too.
