Dr. Parker on Becoming an Abortion Provider
June 27, 2012
PRCH board member Willie Parker, MD, MPH, MSc, spoke to Dick Gordon, host of the radio show The Story, about his moral and spiritual decision to train in abortion provision 12 years after becoming an obstetrician/gynecologist. Dr. Parker talked about his upbringing in the South, his Christian faith, and his epiphany while listening to a Martin Luther King Jr. sermon about the Good Samaritan. He came to realize abortion is a "basic human right to self-determination," a principle that has led him to provide abortions in Alabama and Mississippi in addition to his home city of Washington, DC.
