PRCH, Medical Associations Take On HHS’s Draft Regulations
August 6, 2008
PRCH consulting medical director Anne Davis, MD, MPH, explains in a post on RH Reality Check that American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians, and other professional medical associations have joined PRCH in a letter urging the Department of Health and Human Services to drop its draft regulations that would expand the definition of abortion. The letter charges that the draft rules “will threaten and restrict women’s access to reproductive health and birth control services.”
PRCH member Connie Mitchell, MD, also lambasted the draft regulations in a letter to the editor of the Sacramento Bee.
PRCH Federal Advocacy Day: Restore Affordable Birth Control
July 31, 2008
PRCH doctors are visiting Capitol Hill to ask Congress to restore reasonable birth control prices. For years, federal law helped college students and low-income women purchase prescription birth control at discount prices. But legislation passed in 2005 removed this discount option, leading to a sharp increase in the cost of contraception for millions of women served by university health centers and some family planning clinics.
Tell Congress to make affordable birth control accessible again for these women!
