The 2010 Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Memorial Program Luncheon and Award Ceremony
The recipient of this year's Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Physician Leadership Award is Daniel R. Mishell, Jr., MD, the Lyle G. McNeile Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Southern California's Keck School of Medicine.
Dr. Mishell received the award on May 17 in San Francisco at the annual clinical meeting of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The luncheon and award ceremony featured "A Call to Action: Guaranteeing Free Access and Safety in Family Planning Services," a discussion among panelists Philip Darney, MD, MSc; Jeffrey L. Ecker, MD; and Beth Parker, JD.
About the Award
An outstanding scientist, inspirational teacher, and forceful advocate, Dr. Ryan changed the face of modern obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive health and rights. The PRCH Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Memorial Program honors his pioneering legacy and supports continuing work with educational, research, and advocacy programs that reflect his undaunted commitment to improving women's reproductive health and rights.
The Kenneth J. Ryan, MD, Physician Leadership Award is presented by Dr. Ryan’s family to a physician who, like Dr. Ryan, has been a longstanding pioneer in improving reproductive health and rights through research, teaching, and advocacy, and whose career-wide efforts in these three areas have resulted in a substantial improvement in the field of reproductive health. The award is presented during the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Annual Clinical Meeting.
