Steep Rise in AIDS and Syphilis Among Teens

July 17, 2009
Today the Centers for Disease Control reported that AIDS diagnoses among U.S. males ages 15 to 19 nearly doubled between 1997 and 2006. For young women in that age group, the syphilis rate rose from 1.5 cases per 100,000 females in 2004 to 2.2 per 100,000 in 2006.
