All Women Deserve Affordable Contraception
September 30, 2011
Today PRCH Board Chair Douglas Laube, MD, MEd, submitted public comments to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on its draft regulations mandating full insurance coverage for birth control.
These rules will help millions of women and their families afford contraception, a tremendous advance in public health. But as written, the regulations would give faith-based institutions a pass, allowing them to deny their employees insurance coverage for birth control.
We urge HHS to let all Americans benefit from the new standards for contraception coverage, no matter where they work. In our comments to HHS, read physicians' stories about women employed by faith-based institutions and how they suffered because they were refused coverage for birth control.
